Editing vs. writing

People occasionally compliment me on this blog, and they usually add "... especially the editing part."

That means I'm better at demonstrating my editing skills than I am talking about writing.

The thing is, though, that writing and editing are inextricably linked. You can't have one without the other, whether it's self-editing or hiring an editor.

I'm a good writer because I'm a great editor (and I say that with all modesty; I always wanted to be a great writer). If you're a good writer, I can make you better. And if you're a great writer, well, I can help you, too.

EVERYONE needs a good (or great) editor.

What's a PAC? What does it mean to me?

HEADLINE FOUND ONLINE: Miami Dolphins Owner Starts His Own PAC

I've often complained about acronyms in headlines. I had no idea that a PAC was a Political Action Committee, so this headline meant nothing to me.

If they had said Miami Dolphins' Owner Gets Political, or Dolphins' Owner Takes Political Action, it would have drawn me into the story.

I wrote this more than six years ago. Now that I'm more into politics (blame Trump), I know what a PAC is.
