How to Use a Dictionary

I just found the word PROPINQUITY in a novel. I always assumed it had something to do with sexuality, but I wasn't sure.

I was wrong, although not that far off. According to vocabulary.com, propinquity means "proximity or physical closeness." Your propinquity to someone in a conversation will affect whether you can smell his breath or not.

Of course, sexuality involves propinquity.

WORD MAN: DOGSBODY and OBDURATELY

How to Use a Dictionary

I just found the word DOGSBODY in a novel. I knew it wasn't complimentary. 

It means a person who has to do all the boring or unpleasant jobs that other people do not want to do.

I just read the word OBDURATELY in the same novel. According to thesaurus.com, some strong synonyms include adamantly, decisively, doggedly, persistently, resolutely, staunchly, steadfastly, strictly, stubbornly and tenaciously.

That sounds like HARD HEADED to me.
