She have applied

FOUND ONLINE: For Hillary Clinton, she has truly learned the lessons of 2008 and have applied those lessons to her 2016 campaign.

If you cut out "has truly learned the lessons of 2008 and," what you have left is "she have applied those lessons to her 2016 campaign."

Obviously, she HAS applied those lessons.

Also, I'd rewrite the beginning of the sentence.

Hillary Clinton has truly learned the lessons of 2008 and has applied those lessons to her 2016 campaign.

FROM THE SAME ARTICLE: They would rather complement his business acumen than question his campaign spending.

In this case, it's compliment, not complement.

EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS

FOUND ONLINE: Benkert said he’s excited to get started and looking forward to Virginia, which was picked last in the ACC’s Coastal Division, exceeding expectations.

That's an odd construction, and I had to read it twice to figure it out. Being picked last in the Coastal Division and exceeding expectations didn't seem to go together. Let's move a part of it to the front.

Virginia was picked last in the ACC’s Coastal Division, but Benkert said he’s excited to get started and looks forward to exceeding expectations.

I also changed looking to looks. It just reads better.
