As a guest on my ship...

Needs editing: I was just watching a super-hero video, and the monomaniacal villain said something like, "But as a guest on my ship, I'll gladly indulge you."

That makes it sound like he's a guest on his own ship. The writers should have written something like "But since you're a guest on my ship, I'll gladly indulge you."

I love puns: A cartoonist was found dead in his home. Details are sketchy.

EVP Parcells

HEADLINE FOUND ONLINE: Former Dolphins EVP Parcells, WR Carter Voted Into Pro Football Hall of Fame

I have a problem with EVP. I realize Bill Parcells was an executive vice president for the Miami Dolphins, but most people wouldn't. The headline writer might have said Former Dolphins exec Parcells..., as headline writers use exec for executive all the time.

Or they could have said Former Dolphins boss Parcells...
