Don't be lazy

A NEWSPAPER WORKER recently asked if the name of a local community college was correct. Another worker said he didn't know, so the first guy accepted the name as correct.

I wasn't so sure — I'd dealt with that school before — so I looked it up on the Internet. Turns out that it wasn't correct, so I gave him the right name. I hope he used it.

My point? Editors sometimes make the mistake of accepting incorrect information as gospel; I've done it; we all have. We all assume we're being fed perfect info.

Check the facts ... or suffer the consequences.

An editor's choices

A wire story on Saturday said that the Panthers' Armanti Edwards was also added to the injury list as questionable because of a sore back.

I'd simply change it to this:

Receiver Armanti Edwards was listed as questionable with a sore back.
