RKO, a PICTURE

FOUND ONLINE: McLaglen starred opposite Boris Karloff's crazed religious fanatic in John Ford's The Lost Patrol (1934) at RKO, a picture about desperate soldiers gradually losing their minds fighting Arabs in the desert of what is now Iraq.

I think RKO and picture are too close together here.

My edit: McLaglen starred opposite Boris Karloff's crazed religious fanatic in the John Ford/RKO picture The Lost Patrol (1934), with desperate soldiers gradually losing their minds fighting Arabs in the desert.

I'm not sure the Iraq part is that pertinent.

WHAT? SAMIZDAT

FOUND ONLINE: His newsletter has become a kind of samizdat for like-minded liberals who aren’t as willing to speak their minds.

I'd never heard of samizdat, so I looked it up.

Meaning of samizdat: the clandestine copying and distribution of literature banned by the state, especially formerly in the communist countries of eastern Europe.
