From a book: I was just reading a novel that bothers me. The writer's stylebook keeps changing. At one point, he says something like, "Your Uncle was a good man."
At another point, it's "Your Uncle Jase was a good man." And at yet another point, someone says something like, "You can trust me, dear Brother."
I would uppercase uncle in Uncle Jase, but I'd lowercase it in the other case. My dear brother or my brother would be lowercase. And, yes, your uncle was a good man.
