BIG NUMBERS

BIG NUMBERS: I'm always interested in big numbers, like infinity and the number of stars in the universe.

A nanosecond, for instance, is one billionth of a second, an extremely tiny number. Then there'a the zeptosecond, the shortest measure og time. (I learned that from Spock on Strange New Worlds. I looked it up; it's real.)

One thousand trillion is called a quadrillion in the U.S. system and quattuordecilliard in the European system.

If you multiply a billion by a billion, you get a quintillion; that's 1 with 18 zeroes (a billion has nine zeroes).
