Whom he is

Found online: In his first game against a top-flight NFL defense, Tannehill looked like the raw, inexperienced rookie whom he is.

Sigh. Here we go again with whom. Whom isn't necessary here. Who would be fine. In fact, you can just say rookie he is.

Also online: The officials in Green Bay-San Francisco missed an illegal block in the back on Randall Cobb's 75-yard punt return.

As far as I know, there are no legal blocks in the back on punt returns.

Another one: That will come in handy this week facing a Yellow Jackets amorphous defense led by former Virginia Coach Al Groh.

I'd change that to an amorphous Yellow Jackets defense or an amorphous Tech defense.

Illegal block in the back?

GET BACK: I'm watching the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, and they were just talking about an illegal block in the back. Is there a legal block in the back? In my day — never mind when — that was called a clip.

Actually, it's legal to block in the back on the line.
