EDITOR@WORK: bombastic

I just heard the word propitious on YouTube, so I looked it up.

Meaning of propitious: (2) giving or indicating a good chance of success; favorable; (2) favorably disposed towards someone (archaic)

I think I'd just go with favorable.

Years ago, my next-door neighbor said that I was bombastic. I didn't know what it meant, so I looked for a dictionary.

It basically meant that I used big words to give myself an air of importance. Ironic.

When I was a boy, I loved to use big words. Maybe I wanted to show off a bit, but I also just loved the words.

Anyway, my next-door neighbor/best friend, Frankie, told me I was bombastic. I didn't know what it meant, so I had to look it up.

Turns out it meant that I used big words (or my speech was pompous or overblown). That knocked me down a peg.

Strangely, this is the only time I've ever used bombastic in a sentence.
