Misuse of whom

Found online: If Jerry can keep his weight under control, he should have no problem fending off former Chicago Bear Lance Louis for the right guard position, whom is returning from a torn ACL.

People misuse whom all the time, but this is one of the worst I've seen. "Who is returning" is correct.

I also don't like the fact that the writer split up Lance Louis and "who is returning from a torn ACL." Let's do it again.

If Jerry can keep his weight under control, he should start at right guard over former Chicago Bear Lance Louis, who is returning from a torn ACL.
