WORD MAN: SCLEROTIC

FOUND ONLINE: Today, our politics are sclerotic and our dreams are small, writes Daniel Immerwahr.

I'd never heard of sclerotic before. So I looked it up.

Meaning: 1. of or pertaining to the sclera. 2. pertaining to or affected with sclerosis. 3. rigid or unchanging: sclerotic bureaucracy.

The third meaning obviously fits.
