Peace and quite

Found in a fortune cookie: Give yourself some peace and quite for at least a few hours.

They obviously meant quiet. Maybe English wasn't the writer's first language ... or they just didn't edit it.

Behind the green sign

I was walking into a grocery store late one evening, and they'd already closed one of the entrances inside. They had a large green sign up that said something like "Please use other door." That sign is there every evening.

A man stormed past me, went around the sign and tried to enter the door. He seemed surprised that the door didn't automatically open.

I wondered if he couldn't read. I can't think of another explanation.
