New YouTube record

FOUND ONLINE: That sets a new YouTube record.

It can't set an OLD YouTube record, so you don't need new.

Re-do: That sets a YouTube record.

ALSO FOUND ONLINE: Extremely undersized for the position – Murray shorter than Russell Wilson and lean frame in the vain of smaller, athletic quarterbacks who have populated the league in recent decades, such as Michael Vick, Seneca Wallace, Pat White and others.

I think they meant vein, not vain. And you don't need it. Also, that sentence is long and hard to read.

Re-do: Extremely undersized for quarterback – Murray is shorter than Russell Wilson and has a lean frame like Michael Vick, Seneca Wallace, Pat White and other recent smaller, athletic quarterbacks.

Quick thoughts on twits

In 2011, I wrote a blog post about folks using apostrophes indiscriminately, and I called in Quick thought's on apostrophe's.

Recently, I tweeted a link to that blog post and quickly got a reply from a tweeter asking if I mistakenly put apostrophes in that headline.

I was tempted to call him a twit, but I didn't. I just told him I knew what I was doing, that I was making a point.

I make mistakes, of course (no way to avoid them completely), but overall I can take care of business.

FOUND ON YOUTUBE: 8 Unique Watercraft's Will Change The Way People Travel | Coolest Means Of Transport On Water

They did it again. Maybe there's one guy on YouTube who can't handle plural.

If you DID put an "s" on watercraft, it would be watercrafts. And I think watercraft is already singular and plural, like deer.

(I looked it up, and there are times when either watercrafts or watercraft can be correct; but I can't explain it. All I can say is that my spellcheck doesn't like watercrafts.)
