Whom he is

Found online: In his first game against a top-flight NFL defense, Tannehill looked like the raw, inexperienced rookie whom he is.

Sigh. Here we go again with whom. Whom isn't necessary here. Who would be fine. In fact, you can just say rookie he is.

Also online: The officials in Green Bay-San Francisco missed an illegal block in the back on Randall Cobb's 75-yard punt return.

As far as I know, there are no legal blocks in the back on punt returns.

Another one: That will come in handy this week facing a Yellow Jackets amorphous defense led by former Virginia Coach Al Groh.

I'd change that to an amorphous Yellow Jackets defense or an amorphous Tech defense.

First annual? How do you know?

Found online: I just found the FIRST ANNUAL SARANAC REVIEW WRITING CONTEST online.

That bothers me. How do they know it will be annual? Maybe the director will run off after one contest. Maybe they won't get any entries. (I'm being facetious, of course, and I'm making a point.)

Even the second annual event isn't annual yet. But if it makes it to third annual, then it's really annual. It'll probably make it.

I would call it the INAUGURAL SARANAC REVIEW WRITING CONTEST.

I love puns: I changed my iPod's name to Titanic. It's syncing now.
