A winning skid?

I HATE IT WHEN A SPORTS writer says that a team suffered an eight-game losing skid.

You can't have a winning skid, so I'd turn it into losing streak. Or a skid.

Losing skid

A STORY ON THE WIRE says that a team was in the midst of a seven-game losing skid. There's no such thing as a winning skid, so seven-game skid or seven-game losing streak should do.
