DIASPORA DEFINITION

I just heard the word DIASPORA in a movie; I'd heard of the word but didn't know the meaning.

Here we go:

A diaspora is a population that is scattered across regions which are separate from its geographic place of origin. The word is used in reference to people who identify with a specific geographic location, but currently reside elsewhere.

From Wikipedia: According to a 2019 United Nations report, the Indian diaspora is the world's largest diaspora, with a population of 17.5 million, followed by the Mexican diaspora, with a population of 11.8 million, and the Chinese diaspora, with a population of 10.7 million.

WORD MAN: MISOGYNOIR

FOUND ONLINE: Danielle Deadwyler cites racism, misogynoir in Oscar snub

Naturally, the word misogynoir is the word I didn't recognize, although it reminded me of misogyny.

Background: The term was coined by black feminist writer Moya Bailey in 2010 to address misogyny directed toward black transgender and cisgender women in American visual and popular culture.

So, yes, it involves misogyny.
