Illegal block in the back

Heard on TV: I was watching football on Saturday, and the announcer said someone was called for an illegal block in the back.

I'm just wondering: Is there a LEGAL block in the back?

Update: Because of this post, I hear that you CAN block in the back legally in certain situations. I didn't know that, obviously. Live and learn.
