Hunger and appetite

FOUND ONLINE: In fact, eating protein with meals may automatically reduce calorie intake by reducing hunger and appetite.

I just saw this, and I automatically wondered if there's a difference between hunger and appetite.

I looked it up, and a web site said that hunger is the need for food, and appetite is the desire for food. And, yes, I do see the difference. After all, we often desire to eat more than we need to eat.
