MEANING: ORCHIDECTOMY

I just found the word orchidectomy in a novel, so I looked it up. Sadly, it means the surgical removal of one or both testes (I refuse to say testicles).

The word fits within the context of the novel -- Travis McGee is thinking little of himself because of his womanizing -- but it surprised me anyway. It shouldn't have. He's an introspective kind of guy.
