WORD MAN: FURTHEST

How to get a word added to the dictionary - Ilan Stavans

FOUND ONLINE: Moving 800 miles away is the furthest I’ve ever lived from home and my family has been a lifeline, so you can imagine how excited I am to see them. But the person I am most excited to see is my Nana.

Generally, farther is distance (as it is above), so you'd think that farthest would be correct.

Meaning of farthest: most distant especially in space or time.

ALSO ONLINE: Orcas often shed their skin, which helps keep their bodies smooth and aerodynamic. Since orcas swim in water, aquadynamic might be better.

I'M OLD-FASHIONED

I hate shortcuts in writing. I text or write on Twitter in complete sentences. I hate it when people use 4 instead of four or UR instead of you are.

I'm old-fashioned that way.

I was just watching a short YouTube video, and the narrator kept using the word further when talking about distance; farther would be correct.

It's irritating to hear him screw it up every time.
