J-school: Go out and learn

If you're a journalism student and you want to work at a newspaper, find a newspaper or magazine and become a clerk. You'll answer phones, particularly if you're working in sports at a newspaper, and you'll learn. Eventually, they'll send you out to cover a game or write a feature story.

An incorrect headline

Technically, this headline (found online) is wrong.

Kurt Busch wins first Nationwide race since 2006

Busch didn't win the first Nationwide race since 2006. They've had plenty of races since then.

Busch earns his first Nationwide victory since 2006

People usually don't see the distinction, but it's there.
