Unfamiliar word

SO THAT EXPLAINS THAT: I was just editing a sports story, and the writer said that a football player subluxed his shoulder. I'd never heard that word before.

The best that I can find is that a subluxed shoulder is similar to a dislocated shoulder, but the joint doesn't pop out; it just stretches or tears ligaments and returns to its normal position.

I suspect the coach used the word subluxed, so the writer used it.
