Pique or peak?

Found online: But though they are locked in on their opponents, the intrigue among fans and followers will pique in the moments leading up to their final regular-season game.

Normally, you'd say that something will pique someone's curiosity, but I wonder if it should be peak here.

I love puns: We’re going on a class trip to the Coca-Cola factory. I hope there's no pop quiz.

Will likely?

Found online: Bush will likely move past 1,000 yards on the season for a second year in a row if he gets at least 40 yards against New England this Sunday.

Actually, Reggie Bush had 960 yards this season with one game left. This sentence says he "will likely move past 1,000 yards" if he gets "at least 40 yards." Hey, if he got 40 yards, he would have his 1,000 yards; so there is no "will likely."

Editorial group: If you're a writer, editor or general freelancer, you might check out my Freelance Writers and Editors group on Yahoo. We've been really active lately, and I think we've become useful to each other.

I love puns: Did you hear about the cross-eyed teacher who lost her job because she couldn't control her pupils?

Followers: I see that this blog now has 63 followers. Thanks to you all.

Blogs: If you have an editing or writing blog (or if you have a particular entry you're proud of), let me hear about it. It doesn't even have to be a writing or editing blog. I just like good writing. Thanks.
