Here, its is short for "it is," so you need an apostrophe.

It's receiving corps, not core.

Here, it's is possessive, not short for it is; so it should be its.


This sentence could use a re-do:

For its size, Scotland is way ahead of the rest of Britain on renewable energy, which last year produced 57.4 per cent of its electricity needs – about three-quarters of that coming from wind.
