Burned dry

Found in a novel: The sweat burned dry on my skin before it had a chance to form into beads.

Normally, I'd change burned dry on my skin to simply dried on my skin. But I think burned dry illustrates what the author is trying to convey, the extreme heat of the Arizona desert.

I like it the way it is: burned dry.
