A journalist and a newspaperman

Years ago, someone explained to me the difference between a journalist and a newspaperman. Apparently, a journalist worked for a magazine or a TV or radio station.

"A journalist," he said with a great flourish, "is someone who borrowed ten dollars from a newspaperman and never gave it back."

I no longer work at a newspaper, but I still think of myself as a newspaperman.
