A case of overkill

Today, I found an interesting newspaper story with a headline that fit well.

Apparently, the local sheriff's office is thinking of trading two in-good-condition 1920s-era Thompson submachine guns for a bunch of modern weapons. In fact, they would get a whopping 88 combat weapons in return.

One has to wonder what a sheriff's office would do with 88 combat weapons; attack South Carolina?

It sounds like overkill, and indeed the headline is this:

Is sheriff's office request
for more weapons overkill?

I like it.
