Extremely slowly

Found in a book: The long column moved with utmost silence and extremely slowly.

I hate "extremely slowly," two more back-to-back "ly" words. Besides, this isn't parallel construction.

Let's try again: The long column dragged along in extreme quiet.

Or: The long column proceeded slowly and quietly.
