Playing at the Speedway

FOUND ONLINE: "There has always been a desire by fans to see a football game at our historic Speedway," said Smith when the news was officially announced in 2013.

Two things: There's no reason to uppercase speedway here. If you're talking about Bristol Motor Speedway directly, you uppercase it. Here? No. The other thing is that "said Smith when..." seems awkward to me. I'd write "Smith said when..."

Is that nitpicking? Maybe, but you need standards.
