Blocked kick?

I just found a headline online just now that said that Titans punter takes blocked kick for first down.

Actually, he didn't carry the ball after a blocked kick. It was a blocked punt.

I suspect the headline writer didn't want to put "punter" and "punt" in the same headline. So he/she came up with an incorrect headline.
