Editing attribution

Found online: “He was never as good as everybody said he was,” the former quarterback Trent Dilfer, now an ESPN analyst, said Monday.

I don't like splitting up attribution. This would read better as “He was never as good as everybody said he was,” said Trent Dilfer, a former quarterback and now an ESPN analyst. I took Monday
out; it's not necessary.
