Newsrooms and hello dearest one

Changing times: Someone sent me a link to a blog on old-time newspaper newsrooms vs. today's newsrooms. ... And here's another blog on the merging of sales and news for the Dallas News.

Today's question: I keep getting emails that say something like Hello Dearest One, Pls Reply. My question is: Why would anyone in his/her right mind think I'd reply to that?
