Grammar Day

GRAMMAR DAY: Today is National Grammar Day, a day that should mean something to all writers and editors. Here's the web page for Grammar Girl and the Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar.

Grammar day! And I didn't buy anyone any presents or anything! Geez! I'm so behind... Kathy Teel
I felt the same way. My wife asked how I'd celebrate National Grammar Day; I tried to use good grammar.

QUOTABLE: I always wondered about the quote "When a dog bites a man that is not news, but when a man bites a dog that is news." It turns out that Charles Anderson Dana said that in the story 'What is News?' in The New York Sun in 1882.
