Even when a person says something twice, I'd probably edit part of it out.

I don't think that hurts anything at all.

It's fine. On some level, you are editing quotes by selecting which ones to use from your notebook or tape.
ReplyDeleteI'd shorten the quote the same way you did. That's not changing the quote. After all, you're not quoting everything the person said.
